Electronic Instrumentation & Control Engineering :
THE IMPORTANCE :
Today we are adopting new trends in automation field and this branch deals more easily and efficiently in automation. Electronics and Software field are open for all the branches including instrumentation branch that’s why the Instrumentation engineer is always has all knowledge of electronics and software. Easy to setup one’s own industry with less capital cost as compared to other streams if desired. Working is suitable for girls candidates because as Instrumentation Engineers will always work in AC Control rooms not in field like Mechanical Engineer. It is most demanded branch in abroad as in USA, Canada and Gulf countries. After doing BE in EI&C there is more scope for higher studies in electronics, computer and IT field. Job competition is less for EI&C Engineers as compare to other Engineers because the job to applicant ration is very high. In IIT-Bombay, EI&C is the 1 st preferred branch for admission than Computer, Electronics etc. as these Engineers immediately get job in abroad during the final year study.
Electronics : Now a days development in electronics field is very advance and study of computer, digital electronics, microprocessor, communication skills are necessary for getting job in the advance modern industries. These subjects are covered by University in this branch so an Instrumentation Engineer can get good opportunity for job in the field of Electronics, Computers etc.
Instrumentation : Any industry allover the world is not totally based on a particular stream of engineering but consists the combination of more than two branches of engineering. That’s why every industry has requirement of engineer who have knowledge of more than one field. This requirement can be fulfilled only by the special branch engineers (like EI&C) not by the old branch engineers (like Mechanical) as EI&C Engineers have the knowledge of manufacturing and repairing of the Railway Signal Instruments, Electrical Instruments, Automobiles, Deference, Medical Equipment like ultrasound, CAT Scan, X-Ray, Ventilator etc., Research Laboratories, Chemical Analyzers, and other measuring instruments which are used in industries. The above facts show that multinational industries and all industries needs an engineer who should have the knowledge of Electronics, Computers, & Instrumentations. Therefore a special branch that is Electronics Instrumentation * Control has been created from mother branch (Electronics & Communications) around 15 years ago.
Control : Today’s era is of automation in all industries and all industries are adopting new technologies in the field of automatic control. Only an Instrumentation Engineer can update these technologies effectively and efficiently. This branch covers new trends in automatic control like computer based automatic control, distributed control system, automated guided vehicle, missiles launching control, traffic control, speed control, temperature control, pressure control, air craft or auto pilot control, RADAR satellite control, vehicle safety control, different chemical reaction controls etc. To operate and run all these controlled systems only EI&C qualified engineers are required.
THE CAPABLE MENTORS :
The Department is headed by Er. Neeraj Jain, B. Tech, M. Tech.*. Along with a team of 10 well qualified & experienced faculty members out of which 4 Nos. Faculties are M.E./ M. Tech.
INDUSTRY / TECHNICAL PARTNERSHIPS :
For the development of students and to fill the gap between industries requirements and the available university course MOU have been signed with industry leaders in instrumentation process and controlled, M/S Dolphin Process Automation based at Gurgaon is one of them.
DEPARTMENTAL SOCIETIES :
The students of the department have launched a society aiming for developmental work that improves projects, research & other industry related adavnce technical knowledge update. The society aptly named as Society for Promotion of Instrumentation & Control Engineers i.e. "SPICE". The society activities include various technical and non-technical, curricular, extra-curricular, & co-curricular activities in which students take part Enthusiastically and win a lot of prizes.
LABORATORIES :
This department has seven labs and a separate Computer Lab for designing Instrumentation system using different supporting softwares. Other labs are :
-
Micro-Processor and Micro-Computer Lab
-
Analytical and Environmental Lab
-
Instrumentation Lab
-
Process Control Lab
-
Transducers Lab
-
Control Lab
-
Electronic Measurements and Instrumentation Lab
These Labs are not only well equipped but also have a good technical support by hardworking & dedicated Lab Staffs & Faculties. Department has set up an Industrial Automation Lab. In this lab we have a Multi Process Trainer & PLC Trainer Kit. CNC Machine is also available in the labs for Computer Designing & Training of products.
